The DMC World DJ Championship finals will return to London in September
The DMC World DJ Championship finals will return to London in September.
Presented by RANE and in association with Technics, the historic competition - which sees finalists from across the globe battle for the coveted title - will take place at Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday 28th September. It follows on from last year's 33rd outing for the competition, which saw France's DJ Skillz (pictured) come out on top.
Get to Know: Olivia
It’s fair to say that Oliva changed the face of her local scene, and she’s now making her mark around Europe. The Kraków native came up at a time when drum & bass was the predominant sound of the city, but years of her own hard work as a DJ and promoter mean it is now about so much more. Olivia first went to legendary local club Kanty with her older brother and “had to bribe bodyguards” and “sneak in through the fence”.

At Home With Âme: DJ Mag hits Innervisions HQ to meet the enigmatic German duo
Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, better known as Âme (that's pronounced 'arm', for the record, not 'ahh-may') often refer to their relationship as being like that of "an old couple". More accurately prehaps, they're like an old couple in an open marriage. While that's an unsavoury image, the description does bear scrutiny. They affectionately bicker with each other in the way that old, slightly adversarial friends, or spouses, do.

“Peter Kruder, a friend of mine, knew him, and said he was a super lovely dude. I mean, what do you expect from an 83-year-old guy coming to your studio, and he’s one of your musical heroes? I didn’t quite know what to expect. He could be a diva or dropping names all the time, but there was none of that. He came in and there was not one moment that was not great. It was heart-warming. He’s just a really lovely guy who feels the need to make music every day.”
Lena Willikens: Phantom Power
Lena Willikens has always been an outsider. Born in the south-west German city of Stuttgart to a Hungarian architect mother and an artist father, formative childhood weekends spent in galleries and gothic churches coupled with a distinct, non-Swabian accent had her labelled "unusual" by her peers from an early age. "I was always the freak," she tells DJ Mag over Skype, half-laughing. "She's different!' She doesn't speak the same way that we speak!'"
