In late 1976, a guitarist named Nile Rodgers and a bass player named Bernard Edwards bribed an elevator operator $10 to keep quiet about an after-hours session. Their friend and DJ Robert Drake was working as a maintenance man at Sound Ideas Studios. Along with the rhythm section of their former group The Big Apple Band and by roping in friends such as a pre-fame Luther Vandross, they recorded a song called ‘Everybody Dance’.
You’re living in Europe now after a long stint in NYC. Why did you decide to move over?
Honing his legacy as a DJ playing forward-thinking house records on French radio in the ‘80s, Dimitri From Paris has made a name for himself thanks to his expertly crafted edits and remixes, which never stray too far from disco’s live and deeply-musical roots. Most recently, he’s put together a compilation of re-imagined classics titled ‘Le Chic Remixes’ for Defected, which houses reverent reworks of hits from Chic, Sister Sledge, Norman Jean and SB Devotion.
Returning after a year’s break, Leicester label City Fly are back with a brand new EP from co-founder Ashley Stevenson AKA The Last Trip To Gandahar.

SUPPLY NY are set to celebrate their fifth birthday tonight (Friday 8th June) with a five-hour boat party in New York City.
Setting sail at 7:00PM sharp, the collective’s long-serving resident DJs will command the on-board booth, with Griffin Camper, Jordan James, Misawa and Animal Feelings all set to spin as the sun goes down.
Additional support will come from local and talented selectors including Haruka Salt, Ria (88 Palms), Nè, Tony y not, and Kate Stein.
Jive Talk have been very busy indeed for a duo who formed about two years ago. Since the London pair started DJing and producing together in 2016 they have gone on to nab residencies at Gottwood Festival as well as regularly playing nights like Percolate, Locomotive Disco, 12inch, and House Of Disco. They’ve also hosted their own parties at Number 90 in Hackney Wick and NT’s in London Fields.
